Using Developer tool to insert a YouTube video in PowerPoint 2013

In case you don't have time to watch the YouTube link I sent in the email, here are the steps:

  1. In PowerPoint 2013, go to the File Tab. Choose Options.
  2. Choose Customize Ribbon. On the right side of the screen, you will see a list of items, most of which are selected. Put a check mark in the box to the left of Developer to add it.
  3. Go back to your presentation. Choose the Developer tab.
  4. Click on the wrench icon for more tools. Scroll down and select Shockwave Flash Object.
  5. This takes you back to your slide. Draw a box where you want to insert the video.
  6. Right-click the box. Choose Property Sheet.
  7. In your Web browser, navigate to the YouTube video you want to insert. Copy its URL.
  8. In the Property Sheet, locate the line for video. Paste the URL of the video in this box.
  9. In the URL, replace the = sign with a single forward slash: /
  10. Delete watch? from the URL.
  11. Close the Property Sheet box. If you are on a staff computer, you should now be able to use the Slideshow option to see the embedded video.
