Links for When the Catalog Is Down

As you may have noticed, the catalog has been experiencing periods of extreme slowness and periodic outages (like right now, for example!). Here are a few methods of circumventing the catalog:

• WorldCat - this one is a gimme, but should be on the list. Helpful for determining if we have a title.
• UF Catalog - for trying to determine the LC call number for a book that we might have (and was unable to verify through WorldCat)
• LC Classification Outline - Good for finding general areas to send students for browsing
• LC Classification Web - more specific than the outline. To find the call number correlations for a subject heading, click on LC Subject Heading & LC Classification Number Correlations and input the subject heading. If you're not sure of the subject headings, go to LC Subject Headings.
